President Hakainde Hichilema has officially launched a nationwide "Vision 2026" tour, aimed at engaging directly with citizens across all 10 provinces of Zambia to shape the developmental agenda for the next term.
The tour, which kicked off in Lusaka this morning, will see the President visiting provincial capitals, rural districts, and community hubs. The primary goal is to hear firsthand from Zambians about the impact of current policies and their priorities for the 2026-2031 period.
A Shared Vision for Prosperity
"The work of building Zambia is a collective task," the President stated during the launch. "We have laid a solid foundation by stabilizing the economy and restoring the rule of law. Now, we must define together how we accelerate our progress toward a prosperous, unified nation where every citizen has opportunity."
Key focus areas for the tour include economic diversification beyond mining, climate-resilient agriculture, and the expansion of the free education policy to include vocational training. The President will also use the tour to inspect ongoing CDF (Constituency Development Fund) projects and ensure they are meeting local needs.
Provincial administrations have been directed to organize town halls and community dialogues that are inclusive and accessible to all citizens, including the youth, women, and persons with disabilities.
Transparency and Accountability
In line with the administration's commitment to clean governance, the Vision 2026 tour will also serve as a feedback mechanism for public services. Citizens are encouraged to share their honest assessments of government performance, which will be recorded and used to refine policy implementation.
The tour is expected to conclude in June, after which a comprehensive Vision 2026 Manifesto will be published, reflecting the aspirations and inputs gathered from every corner of the Republic.
